Longines His & Hers - Full Set Box & Papers from 1978 - Lucky 3's

This is a beautiful his & hers set of Longines manual wind watches from 1978. It's rather unique and rare to find a set like this with a special box that accommodates both watches.

The men's watch seems to be unworn - or maybe only ever worn a handful of times. The dial is pristine, case also in excellent unpolished condition, like new. Crown is original and Longines signed. The watch is a ref 1114.4001, powered by a manual wind cal 847 from 1978. It measures 33mm diameter without crown, and 37mm from lug to lug.

The ladies watch has been used. The dial is in great condition, with soft patina on the edges. The case is in great unpolished condition, with signs of use. Crown is original and Longines signed. The watch is a ref 1116.4001, powered by a manual wind cal 817 from 1978. It measures 21mm diameter without crown, and 27mm from lug to lug.

Service history unknown, assuming both have never been serviced. They both work well and keeps good time. If desired I can get them serviced before shipping out.

Both watches are fully original, apart from their strap, which is a new replacement. The buckles are original. Both come with their original papers, originally sold in Osaka, Japan on 3 March 1978 (Showa year 53). In Japan, the number 3 is considered a lucky number. It represents perfect balance and also stands for prosperity and long-lasting luck, so for the watches to be purchased on 53.03.03 as a couples set, it carries significant symbolic meaning.

They come in their original unique couples box, which measures 25cm x 11cm x 3,5 cm. The ideal gift for his & hers.
